INDIAN IMMIGRATION 2 the U.S.

http://www.essays.cc/free_essays/f3/nyv313.shtml

  • Like other immigration, Indian immigration occurs becasue of the United States' occupation oppurtunities
  • A lot of the Indian immigrants to the U.S. came from a region called Punjab, and since they all came from a concentrated area their communities in the U.S. became tightly knit. Often they came in small groups of neighbors and cousins
  • From 1899 to 1902 Famine struck India causing more surges of immigration towards the U.S.
  • When Indians came to the U.S. they faced the challenge of taking jobs that no one else would because they had most experience with farming. They faced prejudice by the Americans as well. Sometimes they were blamed for the violence within the countries.
  • Many people looked down upon the Indians as inferior. They were teased because of their skin color and they were called mean names.

Final Candy Blog Entry

Candy was a great book, and I would recommend this book to anyone who like reality, and books with real life issues. If you are into city life, and can relate to a suburban point of view, this book will be one that you will be able to relate to. My favorite part of the book was the part where Joe and Candy meet at the zoo, because the magic of love seems to be evident within the pages, and I can almost feel the magic of the moment. I felt that the end of the story wasn't fulfilling, so I decided that I would write what I imagine might happen after what is written on the pages. I don't know if I can write thoroughly in the author's voice, but I can write simply what I imagine happens.
I imagine that after Candy and Joe's last meeting in the book isn't there final last meeting. I think that after their meeting they would both go into their seperate worlds. I think that Candy would go and get her life together and I think that she would end up moving back into her parent's place because that's a place that she is accepted. I think Joe would get back with his band, and that they would continue to do some gigs and become known locally. I'll bet at one of his concerts Candy would be there with her friends and after the show he'd run into her, and then they would get into contact with one another again.
